To add to the discussion:
Perhaps making a two month period in which a starter corp can not be war-dec'd as long as their office is in high sec space.
Following that period, if your corp has less than, say, 50 members and you are war dec'd you can pay twice the fee, 4 million a week, to be protected by concord.
It seems to me some people are just so openly aggressive that they feel that no one else should have any chance what so ever to survive.
To me, in my opinion, that simply seems wrong.
It's not a matter of wanting to stop the war dec system, it's simply a matter of giving newer players and corporations a chance to get to a point when they can actually defend themselves.
Yes, the second you base yourself in low-sec or get over 50 members you are fair game.
But until that point you should have a chance to actually get some outside defense.
Perhaps some of the older players don't realize but this game, especially given the fact that the skills themselves are RL time based and one can't simply power level themselves up to a higher level, puts all newer players and corporations at an inherent disadvantage.
High-sec, I'm assuming, was put in place to afford a sort of counter against this. However with the influx of newer players older pirate organizations are seeing this as an advantage to literaly decimate anyone attempting to start their own group.
High-sec, low-sec, it doesn't matter. Because of the current war-dec system there /is/ no safe space. Which, to some people, is what they want.
However if you /want/ people to get out of the NPC corps then you have to give them at least a fighting chance to make it as their own corp. As it stands now if X pirate organization sees fledgling corp Y they can simply war dec and decimate them without a thought.
Don't fly ships you can't afford to lose: that's all well and good but when you're just starting out and can afford to lose one, maybe two ships and get war dec'd...and lose those one or two ships...what do you do then?
Sure you can try to join a larger organization - but all that does is keep the corporate world static and prevent players from having the idea of being able to form their own corporations to one day take part in the tapestry of Eve.
And younger corps can't /afford/ to hire a mercenary corp, most of the time. Especially if they're just starting out.
0.0 and low-sec space is where lawlessness abounds. In my opinion players should be encouraged to forge their own destines. Not disuaded by the fact that the way the current system works you have little to no options for yourself or your corporation if you get war dec'd by a much larger pirate corp for no apparent reason other than the fact that they get their jollies by killing you off.
If you are based in high-sec you should have a time period, I say two months, to get yourself on your feet.
After that if you are still small, say less than 50 members, as long as you do not war dec' back - if you do you're fair game - you should be able to pay twice the fee, 4 mil a week, to be protected by concord until the war ends.
This way while you might be paying a fee - you're not losing even more isk by having ships podded and it still gives you a chance to get yourself ready.
